How do you incorporate sustainable practices into supply chain operations, such as reducing environmental impact and promoting ethical sourcing?
We are always cautious about reducing environmental impacts in our upcoming projects and day-to-day operations, as it’s also linked to the cost performance. We want to eliminate empty miles, transporting air, and under-utilised operations.
From your point of view, what approaches and strategies can be effectively integrated into the supply chain management process to ensure more environmentally friendly outcomes, waste reduction, and the creation of “green” routes?
We should have the sustainability measures as part of our scorecards, review the plans with the leadership team and learn from industry best practices. EV and Biofuel are some of the lead options, which in future can be cost-positive as well. We need to ensure we have up-to-date route planning systems, AI and machine learning enabled to drive the best optimisation.
How do data analytics, digital tools, and automation aid in increasing supply-chain visibility, improving demand forecasting, and enhancing process efficiency?
The future is AI / Machine learning demand forecasting to enhance the current statistical methods that most organisations use. This would help to streamline e2e supply chain, reduce waste across all nodes, and optimise cost and inventory position.
